Some Lines and Some Dots

Myles took a jab at drawing with a ball pen and some color markers. Here are his very first attempts!

The Wagoneer

Myles has started walking several steps at a time and the wagon's been helpful for practice! We took him to the park so he could cut loose and explore.

Where's my baby translator?

Myles has been very talkative lately. He knows words like 'ball, cool, yay, okay, bath and meow'. But most of the time he gestures and speaks emphatically like this. Do they have a Rosetta Stone for baby speak? (I swear he does a Captain Kirk impression at the 23 sec mark)

Noah's Ark

John and I took Myles to visit the Noah's Ark exhibition at the Skirball Museum. All of the very cool animals are made with found objects and can be touched. They also have a section where kids can "make" rain and thunder, see where the animals supposedly would have slept on the ark, and climb rope ladders, etc. Of course, this being L.A., we got to do all of these things with Reba McEntire and her grandkids. Hmm. Well, Myles didn't care a whit. So much for star power!




We also stopped by ZAP! POW! BAM! The Superhero: The Golden Age of Comic Books, 1938–1950 while we were there. The exhibition has some great pencil drawings and original comics, as well as the batmotorcycle from the 60's tv show, Christopher Reeve's superman costume, and a fun section for kids to dress up, as well as an old batmobile nickel ride... check out the pics and video, below.

Nature boy

I always try to give Myles some new thing to look at - a leaf, a flower, or something else with color and texture that he hasn't seen before. A few days last week we walked to the park. Myles loves the swings and the slide. And he's already making friends with all the little girls in the sandbox... uh oh

Monkey see, monkey do

During the last bit our time off during the holidays, we took Myles to the LA Zoo. He loved petting a fuzzy black bunny, enjoyed the monkeys and especially the Tapirs - such a strange looking animal! The most fun, however, were the giraffes - he was totally fascinated. Aside from the animals in the zoo, the people were of equal interest. Tourists are such a strange breed. :) By the time we hit the Gerenuks, Myles was passed out cold, which gave John some time to do a bit of sketching.
